On April 20, 2020 at around 11:15pm, while on patrol on South Cobb Drive in Cobb County Georgia, Smyrna Police Officer Christopher Ewing was killed when hit by a drunk driver.  Officer Ewing was a decorated United States Air Force veteran and was currently serving in the reserves.  Officer Ewing had been with the Smyrna Police Department for two years.  He leaves behind a wife and three daughters. Officer Ewing had just turned 34.
